About the Artist
I am inspired by everyday objects and scenes: cats napping in the afternoon, a family story, a song on the radio or my daughter’s jeans… these are the small things that start my creative process. My art is about taking these familiar things and depicting them in a new and unusual way.
My art journey started at a young age, when I was inspired by my artist grandmother. In college I received my BFA, and went on to a career as a Graphic Designer and Art Director. After my children were born, I felt the need to reconnect with my creativity on a more personal level, and began painting again. This leg of the journey has taken me from representational watercolor paintings, to mixed media studies that explore the link between past and present, and now back to watermedia painting.
I am involved in my local arts community, because I love to meet other artists and believe we can all help each other. I organize and run several local art shows that have been successful for everyone involved. I am a past President of the Arlington Artists Alliance, and am a member of the Art League of Alexandria and Falls Church Arts. My paintings have been accepted into many juried shows, and won several awards, including a First Prize in Wlak The Line, Arlington Artists Alliance and in Connessione: Things in Common Art Show, Falls Church Arts. I have exhibited my work in solo and group shows throughout the state of Virginia. I was selected for a solo show at the Atrium Gallery at the Takoma Park Community Center. I have also had a solo show at the Fisher Gallery in the Schelsinger Art Center in Alexandria. I have been represented by the Arlington Arts Gallery in Arlington, VA and the Artists Undertaking Gallery in Occoquan, VA, Gallery Underground and Gallery Clarendon.
