Last night was the gala Opening of the Falls Church Arts All Member Show at ArtSpace Falls Church, 410 S. Maple Avenue in Falls Church, VA 22046, and it was rockin! Lots of beautiful artwork, expertly displayed. I especailly liked the painting by Elizabeth Loftis (as always) and ceramic pieces by Lieve DeWulf. The show will be up until April 22nd, and the hours are: Fridays 5:30-7:30, Saturdays noon -2pm and 5:30-7:30, and Sundays noon to 2pm. I will be working the show on Saturday, April 14, from 12noon-2pm, so stop by and say hello and see my award winning piece, Dance 5! Creative Cauldron will be presenting some great concerts in the space during April, and on Saturday, April 14th, "Stories on Wood, Steele & Ivory" will be presented.

The week-long Arlington Artists Alliance ArtFest kicks off tonight with a FREE reception at the Hendry House at Ft. CF Smith in Arlington. This is always a great week of FREE workshops and fun events. Check out all the events at: http://www.arlingtonartistsalliance.org/ The artwork is all hung and ready to be viewed.... I know, since my colleagues Linda Maldonado, Marie Baumann and I spent the morning hanging the show. There are some really beautiful pieces are really reasonable prices! Some that really caught my eye are by Elise Ritter, and Nan Morrison. The reception is tonight from 6pm to 8pm... Hope to see you there! Cat 5 is at the ArtFest! by Elisabeth Hudgins What a great day for a trip to Occoquan, Virginia! I went for the Opening Reception of "Nothing but Trees" featuring the Digital Photography of my favorite husband/wife team of photographers Jane & David Ernst, and Hammered Copper by Anne Jordan (I own several of her pieces) at the Artists Undertaking Gallery. The featured pieces are beautiful (of course I love leaves and trees)! They will be featured all month long, so it's worth a trip to go to the Gallery. http://www.theartistsundertaking.com/ . While in Occoquan, I stopped in at Salt and Pepper Bookstore http://www.saltandpepperbooks.com/ and spoke to Christine, the cheerful owner. She will now carry my flour sack cloth towels featuring my sketch/book drawings on old Cookbook Pages! She's got a really great store with "a Book for every Cook". So add Salt and Pepper to your list of places to visit in historic Occoquan!
Went to an amazing Opening Reception last night at the Art League. Georgia Nassikas was showing her wonderful encaustic landscape paintings in a solo show at the Art League Gallery. She uses HER OWN BEESWAX to create her paintings. They need to be viewed both up close, to admire the intricacy and mark-making, and from across the room to see the ethereal landscapes. I highly recommend a visit to the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, and specifically the Art League Gallery this month, to see Georgia's paintings. Hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm (open Thursdays until 9pm) and Sundays noon-6pm. www.theartleague.org .

Elisabeth HudginsI have been an artist all of my life. I can't help it. Drew on the walls in kindergarten, painted pictures in high school, went to Art School, worked as an art director, started painting again. And am loving it. Archives
