It's A Steal: Don't Miss It!

Once a year, the bargains come out of the basement on are on display at St. Andrews Church for the annual "It's A Steal" show of the Arlington Artists Alliance. This coming weekend, May 16th-18th, the works of over 40 Arlington Artists will be on display and on sale.... really On Sale. No artwork is priced at over $95.00. That includes (but is not limited to) framed and unframed paintings, large and small. There will also be unframed original art, prints, notecards, ceramics and more.

Join me for a "meet the artist" reception on Friday, May 16th from 7 to 9pm. The sale continues on Saturday, May 17th 11am-5pm, and on Sunday from 11am-2:30pm. St. Andrews is located at 4000 Lorcom Lane, Arlington, VA 22207, at the corner of Lorcom and Military Road. Parking is located behind the church, off of Military Road.

I will be at the Reception on Friday, November 22nd from 6 until 8pm... hope you can stop by and say "hello"!

Arlington Artists Alliance will present the 10th Annual "Artful Weekend" at the
Hendry House, Ft. CF Smith. The weekend art show and sale features the works
of over 30 Arlington-based artists, and includes paintings of many genres,
ceramics, sculpture, artists cards, unframed works and more. The Opening Reception will be held on Friday, November 22nd from 6-8pm, and the show will be open 10am-5pm Saturday, November 23rd and 12 noon-4pm on Sunday, November 24th. The Stardust Dance Band will be providing music on Sunday from 1-3pm. Meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments in the historic 1902 Hendry House. Free and open to the public.

I am honored to have been selected to be the Featured Artist for the month of August by the Arlington Artists Alliance! My artwork, Dance 6, will be posted prominently on the Arlington Artists Alliance website, which is doubly cool because the Alliance just unveiled a new and improved website. You can check it out here. For any Arlington Artists out there, this is a great local organization... we have lots of new and fun opportunities. I am really excited to be the newly elected president.

Let me tell you about Jim, in his "previous life" he has been a magazine publisher and has served on the boards of theater and dance companies, and he is a published author. His wife and daughter are both "creatives" and artists. Jim is genuinely interested in all that goes on in the art world, and especially in the with local area. He enjoys "matchmaking" and putting artists together with those who support the arts. The excitement is building.... next Tuesday, July 17th is the Opening of the Northern Virginia ART Center.. Located in the Crystal City Shops @ 2100 the Arlington Artists Alliance (AAA), in partnership with the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) and Vornado/Charles E. Smith, launched this gallery in July 2012 to showcase the work of established regional artists. 39 artists will exhibit paintings, drawings, sculpture, glass work, ceramics and jewelry. Exhibits will rotate on a monthly basis to emanate energy, stimulate creativity, and encourage repeat visits. Hours of operation: M-F 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, Saturday 10:00am - 2:00 pm, Closed Sundays. Metro accessible. Parking is available in metered spots on nearby streets and in public garages which are free all day Saturdays and after 4:00 on weekdays.

Join the 14 artists of Little City Studios for an Open House, just in time for Mother's Day last minute shoppers. Artists will be on hand, giving demonstrations and talking about their work. Featured will be paintings, jewelry, fused glassware, cards, prints. Artists will be offering special items and discounts up to 50% for the Open House only. Free Demonstrations:

11am: Icon Painting by Laura Clerici. Laura approaches her art in the traditional way, starting with her materials, making her own tempra paint. She draws on Greek and Eastern European prototypes.

1pm: Pastel demonstration by Concetta Scott. Concetta will be working on a pastel piece showing how to layer colors and blend. She will be working from a still life set -up in a traditional style.

2pm: Painting in Oil with Jane McElvany Coonce. Watch Jane as she demonstrates her technique of painting reflections in water. Jane is well known for her beautiful water scenes.

I will be at the Studios from 1-5pm.... Hope you can stop by!
