Opening Reception, Walk on the Wild Side Exhibit. Join the artists and experience a Walk on the Wild Side at this fundraiser for the Animal Welfare League of Arlington and Gallery Underground, both 501(c) 3 nonprofit organizations. "Walk on the Wild Side" is an exhibit juried by DeAnna Boling, PSA, APC featuring the furred, feathered and finned creatures of our world. Wine will be provided by our partner, the Washington Wine Academy.
About my accepted piece:
For the Walk on the Wild Side juried show, I created this new mixed media piece. Materials I used were handmade papers, acrylic paint, leaf printing and thread. I have depicted fish in many different media (watercolor, acrylics, collage) and what I love about this piece is the translucent handmade papers really mimic the look of fish underwater. I find fish very peaceful and mesmerizing to watch, and they make me happy. I decided that there would probably be lots of dogs and cats entered into this show, so wanted to tackle a different subject. I am pleased to support both the Arlington Artists Alliance and the Animal Welfare League in this fundraising show... they are both great local non-profits.
